Mongolia is truly a paradise for bird watchers.  Mongolia’s many lakes and rivers attract thousands of birds. Gun Galuut Nature Reserve is home to 9 species listed in the World Red list of rare and endangered birds and one of the easiest places to see White-naped crane of which only 5000 remain in the world and black vulture, steppe eagle, and golden eagle. Khustai National Park is a unique place to watch birds especially bird of prey. There are 217 species of birds observed in the park. 24 of them are birds of prey such as eagle, vulture, hawk, falcon, amurian falcon, and Himalayan vulture in Khustai. Ugii Lake is a wonderful spot for watching migratory birds. There are 144 kinds of birds in Ugii lake.  It is easy to spot Swan Goose, White Spoonbill and Dalmatian Pelican here.

Day 1. Ulaanbaatar

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to your hotel.  Our team will take you on a city tour which will include Sukhbaatar Square, Gandan Monastery, Migjid Janraiseg Statue, and the Museum of Natural History. Overnight in the hotel

Day 2. Gun Galuut Nature Reserve

It is located 130km southeast of Ulaanbaatar in the harmonized complex of high mountains, steppes, rivers, lakes and wetlands. Visitors to Gun-Galuut will see a vast steppe which extends to meet the sky, the imposing Baits and Berkh mountains Ikh Gun and Ayaga lakes and the Kherlen river. This paradise is home for many rare creatures and birds. The Tsengiin Burd wetland is also popular nesting ground for wetland birds.

Day 3. Gun Galuut Nature Reserve

In the morning we will ride horse to the mountain Baits, which inhabited by Argali sheep and other abundant wildlife. We will also see the White naped cranes and other birds. You will have an opportunity to visit a local Mongolian family and to learn about Mongolian nomadic lifestyle.

Day 4. Ulaanbaatar city

Today we will drive back to the capital city of Ulaanbaatar.  Refresh in the hotel and will continue city tour by visiting Zaisan Memorial and Bogd Khaan Winter Palace museum.

Day 5. Khustai National Park

After breakfast, we will drive to Khustai National Park where you can see the Takhi, the Asian wild horse better known as Prjevalski’s horse grazing in the nature pasture.  After lunch, a biologist of the research center in Khustai will give a short presentation about wildlife of Khustai National Park.

Day 6. Altan Mountain

Today we will drive to Altan Mountain located about 20km from the camp to see breathtaking natural scenery and observe many birds and enjoy picnic lunch.  We will spend the night in a camp and have a dinner.

Day 7. Ugii Lake

We will continue our adventure trip by travelling to Ugii lake. This lake is an amazing lake covers 27sq.km and average depth is 7 km. White shores of delicate sand and soft waves offer a fantastic opportunity for bird watching, boating, kayaking and swimming.

Day 8. Ugii Lake

Today is a day for relaxing and observing birds at the lake.

Day 9. Karakorum

Today we will visit Khushuu Tsaidam – the remains of Turkish King Kultegen and Tonyukuk. These monuments were declared a protected sites by “UNESCO” in 1996. We will drive to the symbolic ruins of Karakorum, ancient capital of Mongol Empire and visit Erdene Zuu, one of the largest monasteries in Mongolia which was almost destroyed in the 1930s. During our tour of the monastery grounds and several chapels, you will see excellent examples of Buddhist iconography dating from the 16th century. In the late afternoon we will drive back to Bayangobi.

Day 10. Bayangobi

It is a unique place with many different forms of natural landscape; gobi sand dunes, forests, and rocky mountains. There are opportunities to hike in the small sand dunes and ride a camel. We will visit Erdene Khambyn Khuree. The monastery is located in the majestic Khugnu Khaan mountains. Enlightened Bogd Gegeen Zanabazar, a religious leader, philosopher, artist and sculptor; founded the Uvgun and Zaluu temples to honor his religious teacher. You will also have an opportunity to a visit horse breeder's family and experience making airag, the Mongolian traditional drink made with mare's milk, and riding a horse on traditional Mongolian wooden saddle

Day 11. Ulaanbaatar

Today we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar city. There will be plenty of leisure time for shopping for souvenirs and cashmere gifts.  Before dinner, enjoy a cultural performance. Farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
