The Sarlag Festival is held annually on July 23rd to promote the characteristics and wonders of Mongolian yaks and develop tourism products based on yak farming by locals.
The event includes activities such as capturing yaks with a lasso, taming yaks, playing polo, racing, choosing the best yak couple, exhibiting and selling yak products, and showcasing the Mongolian tradition of using yaks for carrying loads.
The festival is organized by the "World Heritage Nomads of the Orkhon River" Tourism Association and the Department of Environment and Tourism of Uvurkhangai aimag, and is in its 11th year.
The location of the festival is in Bat-Ulzii soum, Uvurkhangai aimag.
